Today's blog is about Delhi's tallest minaret that is situated in Mehrauli. Yes...you guessed it right,πŸ™‚ I am talking about Qutub Minar. After a long time planning, finally I visited the place a few days back and it was just wow experience😍. I also want you to feel the same. So let's start it. 

Historical Background 

Although you can get all its information from wikipedia but still I am briefing it here for you.

  • Its construction was started in 1199 by Qutbud - Din Aibak and completed in 1220 by his son-in-law Iltutmish. 
  • Its height is 72.5 m. 
  • The minar got a place in the list of World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1993.
  • Earthquake damaged the tower in 1505, it was repaired by Sikandar Lodi. 
  • Due to accidents in past, (On 4 December 1981, the staircase lighting failed. Between 300 and 400 visitors stampeded towards the exit. 45 were killed and some were injured. Most of these were school children [source: wiki]) entry of public is not allowed inside the tower.

How to be there 

  • The nearest bus stand is Qutub Minar. The minar is on 5 minutes walking distance from the stand. 
  • If you are travelling by metro then nearest metro station is Qutub minar (yellow line). You will have to take an auto to reach at your destination because the metro station is a little bit far from your destination. 

What to do after reaching there 

  • First buy your ticket to enter into the premises of Qutub minar. It costs ₹ 40 per person (for Indian tourist) and keep it safe with you. 
  • After entering into the premises, you can explore the tower, Alai Darwaza, Alai Minar, tombs of Khilji and Iltutmish
  • The place is just wow. You can't stop yourself from clicking pictures. There's no restrictions for clicking pics,πŸ€“so be happy. I am damn sure you will leave the place with a lot of stuff to post on social media.πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜œ 
  • The architecture is amazing enough to make you fall in love with it.πŸ₯°


Instructions 

  • Avoid to visit the place in summer because it can be so tedious 😩 for you. The best time to go is November-February. 
  • Food items are not allowed inside, so avoid to carry it. 
  • Keep your tickets safe with you. They may not ask you for it at the time of entry but when you exit you have to submit the tickets. If you lose it, you will have to pay ₹100 as panelty.😟😣
