In today's blog, I am going to talk about a very famous gurudwara of Delhi. It is one of the most prominent historical gurudwara in Delhi. It is situated in CP and associated with the 8th sikh guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji.
Yes, you guessed it rightπ. I'm talking about the gurudwara Bangla Sahib. So, let's know about it in more detail.

History
- Gurudwara Bangla Sahib was originally a bungalow of Raja Jai Singh, a Hindu Rajput ruler in the 17th century.
- In 1664, there was a smallpox & cholera epidemic, and Guru Har Krishan was staying in that bungalow. He helped the suffering by giving aid and fresh water from the well at this bungalow.
- Guru Har Krishan Sahib died on 30th March 1664 as he contracted the illness too.

How to reach there
- The nearest bus stop is Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. It is just outside the gate of the gurudwara.
- The nearest metro station is Shivaji Stadium metro station. It is approx. 500 m. far from the gurudwara.

Inside the Gurudwara
- Near the entrance gate, you can find a shoe minding counter. You can submit your footwears here for free. A token will be given to you after submission and you have to keep it safely with you. You will have to give it to the volunteer when you will take your shoes back.
- Your head should be covered. You can find scarves just near the shoe minding counter.
- When you go upstairs, you will find a prasad counter where you can purchase prasad. After that you will have to follow a line to enter into the gurudwara (if you go in the afternoon of a working day you may find no rush or lines).
- As you exit the hall, you can see the pond (Sarovar). You can go downstairs and move around it and enjoy the view. Taking pictures around the pond is strictly π₯, so you can just enjoy the view but can't capture it ππ .
- After taking a round of the pond, when you come back to upstairs you can take the Karah prasad.
- There's a langar hall on the ground floor. If you are interested, you can go and have lunch there.
- There's a Baba Baghel Singh Museum in the premises of gurudwara where you can learn about the history of sikhism.
- There's a hostel for travelers called Yatri Niwas. One can book a room to stay here.
Instructions
- Keep your head covered always in the premises of gurudwara.
- Photography is strictly prohibited here.
- Wear decent clothes.
- Don't leave food on your plate while having langar. Eat your meal completely.
